In every field of art, science and commerce awards work as an encouragement in enhancing the skills of the people. Country Music Association Awards is popularly termed as the CMA Awards and deserves great respect among the artists in the musical field.

CMA Awards is often confused with the ACM Awards. CMA Awards first started in the year 1967 in Municipal Auditorium of Nashville. The entire show was not shown in the television and Eddy Arnold was awarded with the prize of the Best Entertainer of the Year that prestigious night. The case was bit different in the next year when NBC took the broadcasting responsibility of the show, which people could see a few weeks later. It was in the year 1968 and still holds a special place in the heart of the music lovers. It was only in the year 1969 that the show began to be telecasted live for the general mass to be the part of a memorable night. The credit of telecasting CMA Awards goes to NBC for the first few years but later on the entire telecasting function was taken over by CBS in the year 1972. The practice remained the same till 2005 but from November 2006 the entire program is shown on ABC.
Grand Ole Opry in Nashville has always remained the favorite venue of the CMA Awards show. The Ryman Auditorium was the initial venue of the show and from the year 1974 the function was shifted to the new location of Opryland. Although there were three exceptional cases in which the venue was shifted to some other place for some specific reason. In the Year 1967 the event took place at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville and Madison Square garden at New York was chosen as the venue in 2005. The Sommet Center in Nashville downtown hosted the award ceremony for the year 2007.
There are twelve favorite categories in which the awards are given to the remarkable performers. The twelve categories in CMA Awards comprise of entertainer, musician, male vocalist, music event, vocal duo, female vocalist, music video, vocal group, album, horizon award, album and song. The CMA Awards function features special performances by top music stars of the country as well as others new to the field of music. The new artists generally come up with the trailers of the new songs before launching them in the market. The stage of CMA Awards is no a doubt a big place for the country music performers to make a mark in the field of music in Nashville. The Country Music Association Awards is a truly a great platform for the new comers to prove themselves in the long run.
