For the last 21 years the Epica Awards has been Europe’s premier creative awards given to encourage the highest standards of creativity in the advertising world in Europe, the film production companies and the photographers. This year the European advertising trade press consisting of 34 magazines from across 27 countries will judge the awards.
Epica Awards is the largest award in the advertising scenario of Europe. In 2006 almost 5,461 entries from 45 countries took part in the Epica Awards. A total of 703 companies took part in the Epica Awards in 2006. The winners of Epica Awards receive widespread publicity across the continent and a selection of best entries is published in the Epica Book.

All the advertising agencies, film production companies and the photographers from entire Europe and EMEA region can take part in the Epica Awards. This year’s entries are closed. Works that were published in the media since July 1 2006 can take part in Epica Awards. To ensure integrity and fairness in the competition only genuine entries are given chance and those entries which do not qualify the condition are disqualified.
The 2006 Epica Awards was held in Stockholm. The next Epica Awards is scheduled on January 11, 2008 at Stockholm for the third time. Resume, Sweden’s leading weekly advertising and marketing magazine will be hosting the forthcoming Epica Awards once more after 2006 Epica Awards. Epica Awards was previously held in Brussels, Amsterdam, Moscow, London, Zürich, Düsseldorf, Warsaw, Ljubljana, Lisbon, Helsinki, Prague, Milan, Dublin, Budapest and Istanbul in order.
The entries of Epica Awards are judged on the basis of 2 criteria only: firstly the originality of the creative idea and secondly the quality of its execution. The entry which scores highest is the winner in the respective category. The entry wins gold. The other entries that achieve the same score but do not win are finalists and they win silver & bronze. In a category when none of the entries fails to meets the standard then there are no winners or finalists. The Winners in each category receive Epica pyramids and certificates while the finalists receive certificates only. The names of all the winners and finalists are published in the Epica Book together along with the names of other selected short-listed entries.
In 2007 for the first time Four Epica d'Or have been awarded to the best overall film, press, outdoor and interactive entries. In November 2007 the results of the 2007 Epica Awards have been announced on the official website of Epica Awards. This time 5,642 entries were received from 732 companies and 47 countries in Epica Awards. Now all the companies in Europe and EMEA region can take part in the Epica Awards. The Cadbury’s dairy Milk ‘Gorilla’ commercial by Fallon London won the Film Epica d’Or. The advertisement was directed by Juan Cabral and produced by Blink Productions.
The Epica Book features 950 commercials, print ads and publications, internet sites and contains the background stories of 2006 Epica d’Or winners. The 20th edition of Epica Book costs 80 Euro and can be brought from the Epica Shop.
