The Filmfare Awards is among the oldest of the awards given on the basis of a person’s performance in different field related to the making of films. This award function is organized in any of the metropolitan cities or any important cities in India. His award is given to people working in different fields of the. This is the most prestigious award in the history of Bollywood Hindi movies. In the year 1954, the Filmfare awards were given for the first time. At the beginning, the Filmfare award was named as the Clare award, in the name of the editor of the Filmfare award. This award was given for the first time in the same year when the National Film Award was given for the first time.

The National Film Awards is awarded on the basis of the decision of a panel consisting of experts in this field. This field is appointed by the government of India. The Filmfare awards, on the other hand are given on the basis of the decision taken by a committee consisting of all the experts and public as well.
A poll was conducted among the readers of the magazine, Film fare to decide the winner of the award in 1953. The poll was conducted among at least 20,000 readers. The actors and other people engaged in the different works related to films were awarded on the basis of their popularity among the readers of the magazine. Initially, the magazine rewarded the winners of only five categories with the Filmfare award trophy. Those categories are, the best director, the best film, the best actress, the best actor and the best music director of the films. Bimal Roy received the award for the best director for the film, Do Bigha Zameen. Meena Kumari was adjudged the best actress for her film Baiju Bawra, Dilip Kumar bagged the award of the best actor for his performance in Daag and Naushad became the first filmfare winning music director for his tunes in the film Baiju Bawra.
There are more than 31 categories on which awards are given at the Filmfare. A separate category of critic’s choice for rewards a movie with a trophy of critic’s choice and also an award for best performance by an actor (male or female).
